Air Travel has made major advancements at rapid speeds since 1903.

View and reflect on future speculations of what we know today about all things moving above us.

Futures are Determined by Driving Forces

Take time to look at the driving forces that factor how Air Travel will change in the coming future below.

Driving Factor 1

Cost affects change in everything. With prices rising, how will that affect Air Travel?

What drives the motivation for advancement is efficiency with investments. The cost of materials and consumer cost is an essential factor.

Driving Factor 2

Sustainability is a leading change the world has been trying to implement. Air Travel sustainability is key to keeping Earth pristine.

Air travel is a major contributor to pollution. Sustainability with zero-emission fuels creates a better tomorrow for future generations.

Driving Factor 3

Going the distance drives us to new places with more opportunities. Aircrafts can takes us across the world, how can we improve this effort?

Distance determines air travel. Imagine a future where 6-hour plane rides now only take 3 hours. That's a 50% decrease in travel time.

Driving Factor 4

Speeds make Air Travel what it is today. As time moves forward, so does the speed-never going slower, always moving faster.

Supersonic speed use to only be a dream, but now it's reality. Air travel speed has increased by 60% for faster-than-sound movement.

Driving Factor 5

Convenience is a procedure that is always helping improve our lives. How can we make a convenient way to introduce air to all of our lives?

Air travel is everchanging to keep up with the times. Electric air taxis reduce carbon emissions and help transport people quickly.

Driving Factor 6

Reliability makes us more comfortable, being in the know of what's going on. With new innovations, we can always count on air devices to travel to us when we need it.

New air travel emerges like drones that help put out wildfires or deliver packages right to your door. Air travel becomes the new shift.

About

This website was created for a Special Topics: Design Futures course at Kennesaw State University in 2022. It started with a group of 4, which then became 3. The purpose of this assignment was to create an interactive scenario report including immersive media artifacts from the future. The topic that our group chose was “The Future of Air Travel” and with a focus on fuel sustainability and design aspects. After the research process, we developed driving forces which allowed us to create 4 different scenario futures, which then became narratives. Each narrative displayed what the world would look like in each of these futures. When creating our project, we implemented our design ideas into a website to give the viewer an in real life feeling into the future focusing on all things Air Travel.

Follow our Process...

1

Our first task in designing the website was taking the first 2 scenarios we created in the previous assignment and brainstorming how we would incorporate those scenarios and two others to create a scenario framework. We debated on what our other two scenarios could be and came up with “Wrong turn” and “Stagnant Future”.

2

Once we established our framework, we then attempted to conceptualize what driving forces could potentially lead to those scenarios. We aimed to keep our driving forces diverse. We piggybacked off what were constant improvements we witnessed from past improvements in technology in the aviation field. We proposed 6 driving forces; cost, sustainability, distance, speed, convenience, and reliability. With these driving forces established we were ready to move on to the phase of our project.

3

The next step was to design artifacts that would submerge the reader in the scenarios to make them feel more realistic and plausible. Each team member designed an artifact for each scenario. Our goal with our artifacts was to have the user be able to capture the scenario in one glance. We also have, what we believe to be a relatively diverse amount of difference between our artifacts.

4

The final step was to organize all the information into an aesthetically pleasing website that was easy for the user to comprehend and navigate. The design of our website went through several iterations with
