The world is shaking & scared, worried who else could have been affected by these pollutants since the toxic environments were . Earth was getting hotter, people were getting sicker, and the air was getting congested. Although activists tried and claimed for their voices to be heard, they were silenced by big oil, government funding companies all for the favor of capitalism. We might look back and think “Where did we go wrong?”
Tracing back to information provided to us by NASA in 2022, we were notified of sea level rise, heat waves, droughts, wildfires, frost free seasons, etc. and how they were continuously growing by the minute. This article that NASA wrote back then was a warning for us to start doing better and changing the course of the planet's demise. They informed the world that back then it was already a problem since ice glaciers were melting and winters were hotter than ever. However, they informed everyone on ways that humans could take in order to reverse the effects. One of the main things that NASA urged countries to look into was finding sustainable fuel that could be used in aircrafts and other vehicles in order to lower emissions in order to produce cleaner air. Many airlines attempted to find a revolutionary sustainable fuel that could be used in all aircrafts and road vehicles but politicians deemed this research a waste and stated that it was not needed at that time.
Due to the negligence of our world politicians and the slow response to the threats of climate change we have lost so much in the last 50 years. Many species of animals have gone extinct due to habitat destruction and deforestation. Water levels have risen dramatically year over due to the constant rise in global temperatures. Glaciers have melted in Antarctica and failed to recover leaving what was one a continent filled with 97% ice to be reduced to just 62%. Because of this, Antarctica's wildlife population has been gutted. There are only an estimated 400 polar bears left in the wild compared to 25,000 in 2022. Many species of polar bear have already gone extinct like the southern Beaufort Sea polar bear.
States like California have been ravished by wildfires and have been unable to recover due to the frequency at which they happen now. Entire communities have gone up in flames causing billions in damages and leaving millions in search of a home elsewhere. It has been reported that in the past 30 years over 9,000 people have lost their lives to unprovoked wildfires in California alone. Wildfires have also spread into some northern states like Chicago that have never experienced them at random because prior to the severe climate change these states were known for their colder climate. That is not the case now with many states such as New York, Chicago, Minnesota, and North Dakota averaging temperatures of 75° Fahrenheit in December!
Airports have begun to limit the amount of flights that can depart per day to 25 which is a hassle for many citizens who are trying to travel. It has become a first come first served method where citizens have to hope that they can get a flight to their desired destination in a time that works with their schedule before others beat them to it. Frustration with this has caused many to drive hours to their destination which has led to more severe traffic and even more air pollution since electric vehicles are too expensive for the majority of people. This has led to millions getting sick from the rapid air pollution and left many with diseases such as lung cancer. We had been warned many times that if we stayed on the same path it would lead to destruction, and we did just that.
